It’s very normal that baring all or almost in a boudoir session in front of a stranger is not exactly the easiest thing to do. You’re putting yourself out there, therefore you are a bit nervous or unsure about what to expect.
My job is to make sure that you don’t just look amazing in your boudoir photos, but that you also feel amazing before, during, and after your session.
Here are three tips to avoid to make sure things go smoothly at your upcoming boudoir session.
1) Getting Drunk: A little bubbly is a nice touch, however it can sometimes be very easy to go too far when you’re you are very nervous. Remind yourself what your alcohol limits are and stick to them. Besides you will be offered a glass of wine at your session so be careful not too drink too much before your session.
2) Not Eating the Day Of your session: I’ve seen this happen many times. It’s an honest mistake, however it’s also one that sets you up for a disaster. You need sustenance to keep your mental and physical energies up, so it’s important you don’t starve yourself the day of or even in the days leading up to your session. Eat colorful, whole foods in moderation.
3) Obsessing Over Others’ Boudoir Photos: It’s OK to find a little inspiration on the web, however don’t let yourself fall down a dark hole of self-comparison. It’s best to come at your session without others’ photos swimming around in your head. You’ll feel much better.
Bonus Tip: Engaging Negative Self-Talk: This happens very often, and it’s a bit of a bummer to hear a client talk badly about themselves. It could be something as simple as “I’m sorry I didn’t get something that fits perfectly!” or “Can you make me look skinnier?” or “I hate my thighs!” I know that we live in a world that makes us focus on our self-perceived flaws, however I challenge you to only think of pure affirmative words before, during, and after your boudoir session. You will be happy you did once your see your photos.
It’s time to have some fun and leave your worries at the door!
